Johnny's Quandary

A pastor was giving a lesson to a group of
children on the 23rd Psalm. He noticed that one of the little boys
seemed disquieted by the phrase "Surely, goodness and mercy will follow
me all the days of my life..." "What's wrong with that, Johnny?" the
pastor asked. "Well," answered Johnny, "I understand about having
goodness and mercy, for God is good. But I'm not sure I'd like Shirley
following me around all the time.

A Taste Of The Bizarre

* Grant Wood's famous painting of an old Iowa
couple posing in front of their farmhouse, is considered the definitive
portrait of the Midwestern farmer. In actuality, the man and women
aren't really a couple nor are they farmers. Also, the "farmhouse" in
the picture was once used as a bordello. -----
* In an effort to
make a happier, bustier soldier the British army has paid for a number
of its female personnel to have breast enlargements, the Ministry of
Defense said. It's not even just officers. In one case, a 27-year-old
corporal underwent cosmetic surgery worth $3,600, courtesy of the armed
forces. A ministry spokesman defended the policy, saying that surgery
would only be paid for if there was an overriding physical or
psychological reason to do so.
----- * Karl Marx, considered to be the enemy of American capitalism,
accepted a job as the London correspondent of the New York Tribune years
after he had become famous as the author of the "Communist Manifesto."
His reason was that his anti-capitalist political writing hadn't earned
him enough to live on.
------ * A 44-year-old New York man has been
charged with stealing credit card numbers so he could buy undies over
the phone while flirting with the operators. According to shy guy Scott
Bankworm, he was too shy to pick up a phone and talk to a woman
normally, so he felt compelled to order plus-sized underwear and engage
in male-female banter with the operator. Bankworm is accused of using
1,200 credit card numbers and ordering thousands of dollars worth of
extra-large lingerie, which were sent to the unsuspecting card owners
over ten years. The case only surfaced when catalogue company J.C.
Nickel's noticed they were having a lot of large-sized underwear
returned to them.
